ARTIST STATEMENT

 In the Poem "Loving Arms” by Dave Merritt, he says “It takes a trip, a step away from your own home to see more clearly what otherwise you wouldn’t know”. I take great comfort in looking back at what I didn’t appreciate in my youth.  All that formed and influenced me are now inspirations in my storytelling through painting. The simple, domestic life and self-made fun of growing up in a middle-class neighbourhood, along with the headiness of adolescent music, fashion and relationships, are features of my work. As we all take steps away from our childhood homes, hopefully we can see clearly and find mutual memories that resonate within.
